With a background as a performer, Vinny came to light design in 2000 via hetveem theater, a production house for contemporary Dutch mime. This innately visual theatre style, using form and images to tell stories, greatly influenced her approach to light design. She has worked with a wide variety of theatre makers and choreographers, from small avant-garde performances, to large site-specific projects to performances of the National Theatre companies of The Netherlands and Czech Republic. In 2010 she completed a two year, self-devised research and development traject  with the Instituute Lichtontwerp where she pursued her own projects and delved deeper into her fascinations with light. She is interested in communicating with an audience, in exploring the dramaturgical qualities and performative presence of light.
